As part of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies podcast series #TraumaTalk, Dr. Melanie Harned was interviewed about when and how to provide trauma-focused treatment to people at high risk for suicide.

In this podcast, Dr. Harned discusses readiness criteria for initiating PTSD treatment among people at high risk for suicide, as well as strategies for addressing suicidality if it emerges during treatment. She also talks about using PTSD treatment as a reinforcer for stopping life-threatening behaviors, and explains why she believes treating PTSD can be live saving.
